5 Best & 2 Worst Dildo Sex Positions | My Experience

Quick links: Best Dildo Sex Positions | Worst Dildo Sex Positions | FAQ

There’s no doubt that adding a dildo to partnered sex unlocks a whole new level of fun. But did you know that your specific dildo sex position determines how much fun you’ll have?

I’ve reviewed some of the best and worst dildo sex positions, hoping that you and your partner will find one that’ll hit all the right spots. I’ve also discussed some of my personal favorites and exactly why I like them.

This article is co-written by Sexologist Robert Thomas.

Best Dildo Sex Positions

Let’s begin with my personal favorites:

1. Missionary

The missionary position is quite popular but also hugely underrated. Specifically, it’s often considered ‘boring’. But as a woman, missionary is one of the best positions I’ve tried and among the easiest to achieve orgasms.

What’s Your Preferred Dildo Sex Position?

When done right, the missionary position allows your partner to hit all the right spots. That’s one thing that makes it stand out.

Add a dildo to the equation, and you’ll likely be curling your toes within the first few minutes.

The feeling is indescribable.

How to Get Into Missionary Position?

Most people don’t realize that this position isn’t just about lying down and spreading their legs.

That said, below is the proper way to get into the missionary position when using a dildo. It works for me all the time.

  • Lay on a soft, flat surface
  • Place a pillow below your lower back, elevating your pelvis to a 45-degree angle
  • Apply some lube to the dildo and then gently insert it

For best results, use a vibrator on your clit as you rock the phallus back and forth. This is why:

“Despite its erotic reputation, the missionary position is an inefficient stimulus for the clitoris.”

by Lionel Tiger;Transaction Publishers
from The Pursuit of Pleasure

The only downside about the missionary position is that it’s not the best for anal penetration, especially if you have a thick booty. But you shouldn’t worry too much about that, you anal sex fanatic; I have more options for you!

2. The Bounce House

As the name suggests, the bounce house is the perfect position if you love riding and bouncing on the dick. I love this position because I can try it with virtually any kind of dildo, whether it’s the Alien Breeder dildo from Mr. Hankeys or anything else.

Oh, did I mention that the Alien Breeder is my favorite?

What I love the most about the bounce house is that it allows me to insert the dildo (s) into my ass and pussy simultaneously, leading to multiple orgasms. But that’s not all – this position is perfect for that deep (I mean reallllly deep) penetration.

So what’s the bounce house all about? Simply put, it’s an adult-bouncing castle.

Here’s how it works:

  • Place the suction cup dildo on a smooth floor
  • Apply some lube to the dildo
  • Slowly sit on it and begin bouncing
  • Increase the tempo as your inner walls expand

You can also try this position with your male or female partner.

Here’s how:

While bouncing on the dildo, suck your partner’s cock as they stand in front of you. If you have a female partner, have them lie on an elevated surface, preferably 75 degrees, and then eat their clit as you bounce on the dildo.

While this position will give you multiple orgasms, the biggest challenge is that it requires considerable energy.

But trust me, when the dildo begins to hit the right spots, fatigue is the last thing you’ll have to worry about.

Your thighs will probably feel sore the first few days until you get used to it. And when you do, you likely won’t need your gym membership anymore.

After all, who doesn’t want to cum and burn some calories simultaneously?

3. The Double ‘D’

Nothing feels better than having two dicks inside you at the same time. That’s exactly how the Double ‘D’ position feels.

Here’s what the Double ‘D’ is all about:

  • Lie on your side and spread your legs slightly
  • Have your partner lie on their side as well, facing your back
  • Apply some lube to the dildo and slide it gently into your pussy
  • Have your partner apply some lube on your butthole and then insert their dick
  • Use your hands to rock the dildo in and out of your vagina as your partner works on your butt

The steps above apply if your sexual partner is male. Female sexual partners can use a strap-on dildo to attach to the dildo for the best penetration.

Not sure where to find one? Here are five of the best strap-on dildos to turn you on.

And if you don’t have a partner to try the Double D position with, you can always use a double-ended dildo like the Basics Mini Double-Ended Dildo from Lovehoney. This is one of my favorite-double ended dildos because it’s easy to use, gentle on my walls, and long enough (13 inches) to guarantee deep penetration.

Each sex position comes with some drawbacks, and that’s one thing you can’t avoid. The biggest challenge with the Double D position is that you must keep your legs open at a certain angle, or the dildo will feel ‘stuck’ between your thighs.

Keeping your legs open at a 35-degree angle while lying on your side can be quite of a challenge. For best results, consider placing a pillow between your legs. Feel free to stack two or more pillows until you feel comfortable enough to insert the adult toy.

4. The Doggy Style

Nothing goes wrong with some good thrusting from the back. That’s what this position is for.

“I discovered that he liked it best when we started out missionary and switched to me riding him for the finish, and that I liked it best when we started out reverse cowgirl and finished doggy style, so he could let go with all the full and furious force of his powerful body.”

by Jasinda Wilder; Nla Digital LLC, 2017
from Badd Ass

If done right, it can take you to places you’ve never been. I also love the fact that I can try it with literally any dildo out there.

My favorites are suction cup fantasy dildos for this position. I love the fact that they come with unique designs and coarse textures.

There are so many options to choose from, but if you don’t know where to start, the Lovehoney Curved Silicone Suction Cup Dildo 7 Inch is a great choice if you are a beginner looking for a simple dildo.

If you want something more coarse, you can try a fantasy dildo like the Tentacle Hentai By Geeky Sex Toys

Once you get the right suction cup dildo, follow these steps:

  • Use the suction cup to mount the dildo on a flat wall
  • Apply some lube to the dildo
  • Turn and face the opposite direction and slowly but gently insert the dildo into your pussy (or anus)
  • Begin rocking back and forth as long as you can
  • Increase the tempo as your inner muscles relax and you become wetter…

You can also get a little bit more creative with this position.

For example, I love sucking my boyfriend’s dick while riding the adult toy simultaneously. And when he’s not home, I watch porn videos while fucking the dildo and thinking about him.

Here’s a pro tip to make you cum faster in this position:

Use a vibrator on your clit as you rock back and forth on the dildo. Because of the limited space between your legs when bending over in this position, I suggest using a rose toy vibrator for easier access to your clitoris and improved stimulation.

5. The Cowgirl

This position is perfect for girls who love to ride the D.

“Cowgirl Position In what’s sometimes called “cowgirl” style sex, the woman is on top, facing and straddling or “riding” the man.”

by Skye Alexander; Llewellyn Worldwide, Limited, 2011
from Sex Magic for Beginners: The Easy & Fun Way to Tap into the Law of Attraction

That’s what makes the cowgirl quite popular; you can do the bare minimum and still experience incredible orgasms. Here’s all you have to do:

  • Have your partner lie on their back
  • Sit on your partner’s dick and begin rocking back and forth as you would a rocking chair
  • Place a vaginal vibrator on your clit and keep rocking back and forth
  • If you begin to feel weak or tired, have your partner thrust your pussy from below
  • Keep interchanging the movements with your partner throughout the journey to orgasmville

Here’s something I learned about this position: the choice of vibrator will influence the level of pleasure to expect.

From my experience, I realized that certain vibrators cause pain around the pelvic area due to the limited space between my clit and my partner’s waist.

Therefore, for best results, I opt for smaller vibrators instead. I particularly love the Tracey Cox Supersex Rabbit Ears Clitoral Vibrator because it’s flatter (which makes it fit perfectly in tight spots), and the ‘rabbit ears’ specifically target the clitoris.

Worst Dildo Sex Positions

Now let’s talk about the worst dildo sex positions, shall we?

1. Reverse Cowgirl

Top of the list is the reverse cowgirl position. I have nothing personal against it (I honestly believe it’s great without a sex toy), but I haven’t had the best experience with it so far.

It’s actually the most uncomfortable sex position I’ve ever tried with a dildo.

Here’s why:

A woman’s vagina isn’t designed to be penetrated from that angle. For this reason, the dildo keeps hitting the wrong spot.

While it may feel just a little bit good at that moment (only because you’re horny), you may spend days or weeks in discomfort after that.

It’s really not worth it, but that’s my opinion though. If you have better luck with it, lemme know what you think about it in the comment section below.

I also found that because the angle of penetration is quite odd, don’t count on cumming while in this position. In my opinion, the reverse cowgirl position isn’t just the best for a dildo, no matter how horny you are.

2. The 69

You’re probably asking yourself, do people use 69 with a dildo? Yes, they do!

But this position isn’t that good. Remember, the whole point of adding a dildo to your sex life is to spice up your bedroom life, not turn you into an acrobat with no orgasm to show in the end.

Here’s how 69 works with a dildo:

You sit on your partner’s face, facing their vagina or dick. Then, as you suck their cock or eat their clit, they’ll eat you out while using a dildo in your vagina or anus.

But most people agree that 69 isn’t as fun, especially with a dildo. This is because there’s too much going on, making it difficult to concentrate and appreciate the pleasure.

Secondly, it’s difficult and sometimes frustrating for your partner to access your holes from that position.

In the end, it may just be an irritating experience I wouldn’t recommend. However, please note that this is my personal opinion – if you have a better experience using a dildo in this position, I’d appreciate some tips!

FAQs

How to Ride a Dildo?

There’s no one-fits-all tutorial on riding a dildo.

For example, if you want to ride the dildo from the doggy-style position, you’ll need one fitted with a suction cup. Mount the suction cup against a flat wall, and ensure it has a tight grip.

I found this interesting Reddit thread on different places to mount a suction cup dildo. Check it out if you’re unsure where to mount yours.

Then, apply lube to the dildo, turn around facing the opposite direction, and slowly insert the dildo into your asshole or pussy. Begin rocking back and forth and enjoy the ride.

Alternatively, place the dildo on a flat surface, preferably a floor, and then use the suction cup to tighten the grip. Next, apply some lube to the dildo, slowly and gently sit on it, and then ride

Remember, you can use these positions with your partner. For example, if you choose the doggy style, you can suck their dick or eat their clit while thrusting the adult toy on the wall.

What’s the Best Sex Position for Squirting With a Dildo?

One thing I know for a fact is that no particular position will guarantee that you’ll squirt. The art of squirting starts from the mind before you use a dildo.

Here are some quick tips to make you squirt with a dildo.

  • Ensure you’re comfortable before using a dildo; distractions can delay your squirt
  • Place a clean, dry towel under your pelvic area
  • If you’re easily distracted, consider playing some soothing background music
  • For best results, choose a time when you don’t expect a lot of interruptions, such as someone knocking at your door, your phone ringing, etc
  • Prepare yourself for squirting by gently massaging your vagina and clitoris; the more turned on you are, the higher the chances of squirting
  • Don’t be in a rush to squirt; take your time and ensure you’re fully turned on
  • When ready, apply lube to the dildo, and insert gently
  • Begin thrusting back and forth slowly, then pick up the tempo as your muscles relax
  • When you hit the right spot, increase the thrusting till you squirt

You can increase your chances of squirting by spicing up your private sessions. For instance, I love watching porn while using a dildo. If that doesn’t work for you, consider sucking your titties or gently rubbing your asshole with an anal vibrator.

I recommend the Filling Telescoping Vibrating Butt Plug because it has a remote control. Why? You don’t have to manually control it with one hand while using a dildo on the other hand.

For people like me who are not really good at hand coordination, the remote-controlled anal butt plug comes in handy.

That said, I hope you truly find a sex position that works for you when using a dildo. If there’s any position you feel deserves to be on this list, let us know in the comment section below.
